The Upper Darby Professional Firefighters, Local 2493 have joined the fight along with their brothers across the country in the International Association of Firefighters. Their goal is to raise awareness and funds for Breast Cancer Research and Treatment. Together, we are all taking a stand and donning our “PINK” Breast Cancer Awareness T-Shirts to show the people that are affected by this awful disease that we are standing, fighting, and showing full support for them.
This year, we held a contest to see who could come up with the best design for our T-Shirt, and as always, our community came through. We received terrific designs and the voters had a tough job on their hands, but in the end an 11-year-old named Alyssa Jernegan won. Brothers Screen Grafx in Upper Darby will print her design on the T-shirts, and we will be wearing the shirts while on duty throughout the month of October.
The best part is that our friends, family members, and community members can also wear the same T-shirt by purchasing it through the Brothers Screen online website. With every purchase, the profits will go directly to the Susan G. Komen non-profit breast cancer organization. So please help us help the women fighting this horrible disease.
