Thursday night July 3rd, was Family Day for the Philadelphia Fire Academy Cadet Class 185. Newly hired firefighters in Upper Darby are sent to the Philadelphia Fire Academy to train in all aspects of firefighting such as; EMS, Tool training, Engine Company Operations, Truck Company Operations, Vehicle Rescue, Fitness, Teamwork, Self Discipline, and Respect. Family night is when the cadets show their family and friends what they have learned up to this point. Firefighters Jim Conlin, Byron Evans, John Calamia, and Mike McKenzie along with over 80 Philadelphia Fire cadets have gone through 5 months of grueling training and are 1 week away from graduation.

From Upper Darby Fire Department I.A.F.F. Local #2493 we would like to congratulate all the cadets and wish them the best of luck in what they will soon learn is the greatest job in the world.
